Seeing It as a Gift

One night, while sleeping the hours away, I awoke from this unusual and disturbing dream. Here is how the dream started. I woke up from another dream in my dream. It was my brother's birthday party. I got up, walked to the front door, and looked outside. The sun was shining bright and the trees seemed very alive. Then I heard my mother calling me. She was in the backyard. When I went to go see what she wanted, I noticed something bizarre. The sky was a mixture of dark gray and black, as though a storm was approaching. As I stared at the puzzling changes in the sky, I was snapped out of my gaze by my mother's scream. I instantly saw what caused her fear. A frightening black horse with fiery red eyes was in full gallop, charging in her direction. As I was racing to assist her, the horse began to rise on his hind legs, preparing to charge on her. She managed to get out of the way as the horse galloped out of sight. Then I went back to the front of the house, sat on the porch, and smoked a cigarette. While sitting there, two little brown dogs with red bows around their necks approached me. The dogs started to talk to me. "We are here to take you away," they said. My reply was, "Where?" Then the two dogs began to float up into a ray of bright light. Fearlessly and without apprehension, I placed my arms around the cuddly creatures and began to join them in the rise. At this point, I woke up from the dream.

I do know that it was a vivid and unusual dream. I sat and thought about the dream for some time. After talking to a friend and describing the dream, I was given only a single explanation. He told me, "It means that it is easy to accept a present for your birthday and it is just as easy to accept God into your life." I agree that his explanation makes sense, and I have accepted this as the meaning to my dream. I still, however, really do not know whether the dream had any real meaning, or if it was just the effects of cold medicine.
