Single mom
Opens with mom walking into her house from a long day at work.
Child 1: Mommy I am starving what's for dinner!
Child 2 : Yeah mom I am really hungry too.
Narrator: Mom walks into her kitchen, looking through her empty pantry and cabinets for something to fix for dinner. She finds two cans of Tuna and decides to make tuna sandwiches for dinner. While making the sandwiches she starts to cry out of frustration and anger.
Child 2: Mom are you ok? Why are you upset? Did we do something wrong?
Mom: No it's nothing, nothing at all
Narrator: Mom feels like a failure because as much as she tries she never has enough money to provide food for her children after she pays her bills. While making the sandwich the door bell rings. When she opened the door it was her friend, and she had a box in her hand filled with to go boxes.
Mom: Hey! Girl how are you doing? And why you so excited?
Friend: Why do you have that sad look on your face? Have you been crying again?
Mom: Oh is nothing? Just a long day.
Child 2 : Auntie, Mommy is lying she was crying before you came by, we asked her and she said it was nothing.
Friend: I need you to put on your happy face because we have celebrating to do. That's what I am here for.
Mom: What you talking about?
Friend: Well, remember when I asked you to make me some dishes for my office party last month?
Mom: Yes!
Friend: Everyone loved the food and kept asking for your card, anyways! My boss wants you to carter all our monthly office parties.
Mom: Are you serious!
Friend: Yes I am, this is not a joke. I have an advance check for $500.00 dollars for next weeks Party. The company will give you the rest after the party and the completion of your contract!
Mom: Oh My God! Thank you, Thank you, I just thank God for making a way out of no way. This was definitely unexpected.
Friend: Stop the church the service and lets eat some Chinese food.
