I believe social networking is making us more anti social. Teens who use social networking have no life in the real world. This is where they spend most of their free time and distracts them from the people they are with. Social media takes away time they could be spending with people fave to face. Nearly one-quarter of teens say they log on the their favorite social media sites 10 or more times each day.
My second reasoning is students grades lower due to social networking. Two-thirds of teachers believe social media does more to distract students than to help academically. Students who used social networking while studying scores 20% lower on test. If students stop or stop using social media so much they will most likely get better grades.
Finally, social networking facilitates cyber bullying. 49% of students reported being victims of bullying online and 33% reporter committing bullying behavior. High school students who were victims of cyber bullying were twice as likely to attempt suicide. The luxury of hiding behind a screen where they are unknown gives them the opportunity to say anything which could result in fights or online bullying. Social networking is making our society worse and more antisocial.
