College or University
Reasons for people to attend college or university are enormous and depend on one's attitude. But the three most important ones that make choose college or university as the gate to their future are job opportunities, increased knowledge and essential skills for future life. I think the most important reason is that people can get a good job if they have a certificate, especially from a famous college or university. But the question arises, should I go to a state college or a major university?
After graduating from high school I was about to make the most important decision of my life. I sat down with my parents and asked them the first question could they afford the money? My dad placed his hand gently on my shoulder and asked whether I really want to go to college or university? At this time I felt a really great pressure on me. These moments led me to a whole other world where I was in a white room and two doors in front of me said "college" or university".
I had no choice but to see where I would fall. So I did a little research. I found out that most of my friends are going to state college and the only ones who chose to go to university are those who like to party a lot. Later on I figured out that everything between state college and university is all the same, there is nothing different. The only thing I would miss is the first experience of living in the dorm or by myself. If I go to state college, I will be saving a lot of money and I can still live with my parents for a couple of more years. After thinking it over for a long time I chose to go to state college in my home town. In that way I can stay closer to my parents and friends who really mean a lot to me. I was excited to go to college. I met a lot of new people who helped me, encouraged me and also motivated me. My parents were happy that I am staying a lot closer to them and they supported me like anything.
I still remember my first day at college. All new faces, everyone looked excited and on top of their world and I was one of them. I made a lot new friends who helped me to find my class and gave confidence that the decision I made was not wrong. Even my manager at work said that I made the right decision and he would help me with anything. But now after one week I am thinking that I am going to miss everything thing I experienced or touched first at the state college. And now I can say that I am proud to be a student of Gulf Coast State College.
