"Strip"
by Chris Brown ft. Kevin McCall
I think this song is expressing the only thing the singer is thinking about is the girl sexually. He is categorizing girls by their looks and how sex- appealing they are. This message is very bad and definitely is corrupting the minds of many young people today. The song goes on and on about how the guy just wants to see the girl strip and if she doesn't then he's not interested. He puts such a candy-coated theme in the song about how great casual sex is with random people when sex is so much more than this superficial stereotype. All he sees in the girl is what he wants from her and his desire for her is based on superficial feelings. Everything that this song stands for clearly goes against the Catholic Church's teachings on sex. The Church teaches about how sacred and wholesome sex is when it is between two people who feel pure love and compassion towards each other. When you have sex with your spouse it's supposed to be something that is shared and not taken from one another. We know from many teachings from the Church how real love is defined. For example, in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 -
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."
Sex was given to this world as a gift from God where two people can experience fulfilling love that will even allow them to create life. This is truly a beautiful concept, but its so sad how not everyone appreciates and understands the true meaning of sex.
