I believe the study of humans is required for our culture to grow and learn. If psychologists didn't study humans we would not understand ourselves. Psychologists have helped us understand many mental and behavioral disorders. This information is very powerful. Without this information we wouldn't have any insight into mental illness. Nor would we understand many of our actions as humans.

Psychology has allowed many people to get treatment and live a productive life with mental illnesses. For example, no one would understand depression or believe it existed unless they lived with it. Without proper treatment depression can destroy someone's life. With proper treatment a depressed person is able to live a more normal healthy life. Psychologists have the right to study humans so we can adapt to our world. We would be missing so many pieces that go to the puzzle of human understanding. In order to advance, we must understand human behaviors this would not have taken place without psychology.

Of course there are rules that should be followed while the studying is taking place. Humans can be studied without ever be affected. If human's rights are being violated, then the psychologist has crossed the line. In today's time, psychologists are required by law to protect the rights of humans. Ethical laws protect the rights of all the people participating. For instance, if they must deceive the participants, at the end of the study, the true will be told to them.

As long as the ethical rules are followed I believe psychologists have all the right in the world to study humans. Psychology has provided many people with insightful information and needed help. I am thankful to psychology for helping us understand a many disturbed individuals such as a serial killer. With their studies many lives have been saved and improved.
