Techno Syn Industry Sdn Bhd, Malaysia - a Company Process Strategy

Techno Syn Industry Sdn Bhd is a local manufacturing company in Malaysia. It was established as family business in year 2009 by Mr. Ng Soon Yew. With an expansion plan moving forward and GST policies, Technoplas Trading name was changed to Techno Syn Industry Sdn. Bhd on January 2015. It is located at Puchong, Selangor Darul Ehsan.

The firm is involved in the manufacturing of cable clip, plastic wiring accessories and electrical products such as conceal box, nutbox, socket, spring clip, junction box, fan bush,fan block and earth chamber. Techno Syn distributes and supplies their products to various trading companies in West and East Malaysia.

Mission of Techno Syn is to be a well-known of plastic wiring accessories and electrical products manufacturer in Malaysia. Techno Syn’s main concerns are in cost effectiveness, efficiency and quality. Techno Syn’s main suppliers are Lotte Chemical Titan Holding Sdn. Bhd. and Toray Plastics (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd. Currently, there are 10 well-trained staffs in Techno Syn.

2.0 Production Process

2.1 Process Strategy- Product focused strategy

Process strategy was defined as an organization’s approach to transforming resources which are inputs into the goods and services which also known as output (Heizer, J. & Render, B, 2013). Every organization allocate specific type of process strategy for the purpose of producing products that’s meets customer needs and wants within certain cost and marginal constraints. Hence, a well suit process strategy may become the competitive advantage for an organization.

Techno Syn Industry is operating with product focused strategy. Product focused strategy refer to the facilities are organized around products which mean product- oriented. It known as continuous process due to consist of long and continuous production runs. The continuous production always refers to the organization produce the same products daily. It is only with standardization and effectively control the quality of the product. Thus, the priority focus of this process is producing products in high volume and low variety. As a prove for Techno Syn utilised this strategy, the factory only encompassed with four different function machines and these machines are able to produce out variety products such as cable clip, conceal box, nut box, socket, spring clip and junction box. Since, Techno Syn is a family business which mean unavailable of enough resources in term of facilities and financial thus the product focused strategy match as its nature of business. The specialized nature of the facility required high fixed cost but low variables cost as reward of high facility utilization. By applying this strategy, Techno Syn may prevent from taking risk in the production process and able to save cost as well as less time consuming.
