The news I found interesting earlier this week was entitled who is hiring?

At the time that so much attention is being paid to the higher unemployment rate, it's harder to believe that there are more than three and a half million unfilled jobs in the U.S. right now. According to government data, it's the highest level of job opening in nearly four years, and if just half of those jobs were taken, the unemployment rate would fall to 6.5% which was nearly 8% in October.

So who's hiring? The article said good jobs are being created in some key industries where skilled workers are wanted.

Energy in United States. That is the sector that's growing. Drilling, oil and gas wells, 20,000 jobs have been added since 2010 in that area.

And there have been a tremendous amount of growth in internet-based jobs. The internet is part of everyday life. So e-shopping, jobs at Amazon and jobs at other companies that function on the internet for all time, the tremendous amount of growth is there as well.

And then there is a positive in Manufacturing. Manufacturing in the U.S. is up slightly. And when manufacturing is up it has a positive effect on the area's economy. Such as transportation you need more drivers if you are producing more goods.

Also there has been a growth of jobs in health care which indicates the U.S needs more talent in that marketplace to serve the aging population.

Many of these industries are not only hiring right now, but actually struggling to do so. But why are 12 million job-seeking Americans still out of work? What's the problem?

The number 1 obstacle mentioned by the article is the training gap. People talk a lot about the skill gap, there is not the right skill for jobs. Maybe it's sort of that but it's also the fact that companies are not investing in training individuals. Companies just look for qualified candidates but missed necessary procedures to train their employees to next level. Other problems blocked the recovery included immigration issues which caused highly educated graduate leave the country as well as education where experts say school curriculum haven't caught up with the industry demand or economic changes. It's necessary for schools or companies to provide training and information that tells job-seekers these are the jobs; these are the skills that are going to be relevant in near future.
