The three careers the career test said I qualified for are closely related to what I'm most interested in. One of them is a high school teacher, I always saw myself as a teacher because I believe that teachers have a great influence on the incoming generations. Another is a journalist/novelist, I've always been interested in using my words to help inspire or change the lives of other which is why I was glad to see this as one of my results. Lastly was an English professor, which was honestly the best of both worlds. I'd have the opportunity to both help the incoming generations and inspire them with my intellect and way with words.
The qualifications needed to become a teacher at the school level require a basic graduation degree in the subject one wants to teach or a diploma along with a teacher qualification course. The school itself more often than not conducts its own training program for short listed candidates who then may be hired on a temporary basis before being confirmed for a permanent post. One should also have a good academic record throughout one's education as top grades would ensure better chances but also equally important would be your communication skills; so vital in the teaching profession as well as your ability to get along with people and of course loads of patience.
To be a journalist in most cases a prospective employer will be looking for a university degree followed by experience at a newspaper or magazine. It is also a good idea to take the subjects geography, social studies and English at secondary school. Typically, you should have at least bachelor's degree preferably in journalism. For institutions that operate on a tri-semester or quarter-semester it would be quite different. The minimum credit load for a full-time student is no less than 12 credits per semester. However, to complete the degree within the four years, a credit load of approximately 15 to 18 credits is recommended. Also a interest and talent for writing doesn't hurt.
To become a teacher at the college level one needs to have completed one's post graduation studies along with passing the requisite qualification exams. As in the schools, one is on probation for a certain period during which his/hers performance is evaluated after which he/she is confirmed as a permanent lecturer in the department; often research students are directly inducted as lecturers after completing their thesis. One should also have a good academic record throughout one's education as top grades would ensure better chances but also equally important would be your communication skills; so vital in the teaching profession as well as your ability to get along with people and of course loads of patience.
