Specific Purpose: To entertain, inspire and educate my audience on the treatment of our Senior Citizens residing in assisted living facilities
Central Idea: Senior Citizens who are placed in assisted living facilities are often the subject of mistreatment; often times left to sit in their own feces and/or urine, subject to frequent periods of isolation, malnutrition and in some cases even physical and verbal abuse

Anecdote: Examples of why a family member might seek out these facilities for their elderly loved ones. The quality care promised is often not provided.

- Often times these facilities do not live up to the level of care that they claim and are not in compliance with state operating mandates/regulations.
Anecdote: Examples of poor conditions in these facilities
- These facilities can be more detrimental to the health and well-being of loved ones, a lack of attention and care can lead to other issues such as sadness and depression in elderly patients.
Anecdote: Examples of how detrimental these facilities can be to the health and well-being of the elderly
- Loved ones seek out these facilities as a means to “get rid” of their loved ones because they simply do not want to be burdened down by having to care for them.
Anecdote: “It’s easier to burden down others, as long as I do not have to deal with the problem”
III. Conclusion
A. It’s easier to put a family member in an assisted living facility rather than to care for them. Caring for a senior citizen requires a lot of time and patience and understanding.
B. We must all remember that one day, we too will grow old and when we do we will want to be cared for by our loved ones.
