Doing the Right Thing

In the exquisite novel, written by Todd Strasser. "The Wave" discusses how a high school history class was in the process of teaching about the Holocaust. Mr. Ben Ross, the history teacher takes the students on an exploration giving them an idea of what the Holocaust was about. A significant student stands out to do what the teacher has asked Robert and the members of The Wave.

The Wave had Mr. Ross demonstrate how Hitler was a dictator ruling the Nazis. Mr. Ross had shown the students and idea of what discipline was. Ben's first request was that when the students answered a question they arose, addressed his name, and then stated the answer in a short formal answer. Another task Mr. Ross assigned was timing the students on togetherness to apply themselves to their seats in a quiet manner till they accomplished it correctly.

Mr. Ross believes Robert doesn't try hard because he is afraid of failing to live up to the example set by his overachieving brother, Jeff. Robert is the class creep in "The Wave". In this book he shows a remarkable stand when The Wave began its toll. Robert had lived his life in the shadow of his older brother who was athletic, and popular, unlike Robert himself. Robert shown through, The Wave that he was a determined young man, who thirsted for more commands to be given by Mr. Ross. Robert shows he can portray himself as a leader of his fellow classmates. Robert in a way was doing the right by following Mr. Ross's directions for the experiment. Though he might have made the wrong choice and kept at The Wave

The conclusion of Robert after The Wave movement in the history class could have several different possibilities to come upon him. Since The Wave has come to a finish, Robert will face the hardest trials yet to come. Robert did take a stand while The Wave was in process and decided he would not stand for being known as the class creep. Robert's fellow classmates accepted him. Robert was the first who succumbed under what Mr. Ross had wanted them accomplish. The students followed Robert's example, in Mr. Ross's history class. In Robert's future he will end up being accepted by his peers, possibly be looked upon.
