The One That Got Away

"Do you have any projects or homework that you need to do?" As I started my freshman year in Mrs. Robinson's English class I was asked this question a lot by my parents during the first nine weeks. The answer that I gave more often than not, "Ummm... No I don't have any homework or projects." When I gave this answer my parents didn't look to sure about it most of the time. I guess they should have because I did have homework a lot of the time I gave that answer.

During the first nine weeks of my freshman year in English class I was assigned something like five different projects all that were due during the first nine weeks. In English class that year projects were worth something close to if not 50 percent of my grade, so if I didn't do them it would hurt my grade really bad, but I did not know that at the time. When I was first assigned one of the projects I said to myself, "What a project this early in the school year?!" I could not have been more wrong in my assumption.

When the time came to turn in the projects I felt pretty bad because I began to have my doubts about my decision to not finish the projects because I was halfway done with the projects. When the final two projects were assigned I looked at them and started to do them, but then I just blew them off all together. I started to work on them again during the week they were due but I never finished them. Since I did not finish the last two projects I did not turn in either of them also. When we got our passwords to get online and look at our grades my parents did too. When they got on they saw my grade was a 97 and I felt that I was right about the projects not affecting my grades that much. A few days later my parents noticed that my grade had dropped from a 97 to a 63 only within a few days. After this happened I felt guilty and stupid for not doing the projects.

When all of this happened my parents were dumbfounded and wondering how in the world that could happen. My parent eventually found out that I did not do the projects I was assigned. I ended up getting grounded by
