1. Vision of the University

Vision establish a sense of what the organization hopes to accomplish or what to managers hope it will become at some point in the future refer to Project Management Achieving Competitive Advantage book page no 34. Vision is the driving force behind its project development.

Vision of University of Rummidge in Splot

1.1: Strategic Objective of University Of Rummidge.

To establish the new University of Rummidge in Splot was a major objective in this project, considering their other alternative options available. University of Rummidge has selected the above objective by evaluating the below project options. These options are summarized as to expand the university within the area of Rummidge and to investment in Internet based activity with large companies. These projects were rejected due to various reasons of physical planning limitations etc. Finally University of Rummidge selected to establish the University in Splot by considering the below strategic objectives and set up a joint venture with the town council of Splot to achieve those objectives.

Strategic objective of the University of Rummidge are as follows.

1. Expand the university on its existing site.

2. Improve the university brand name in market.

3. Provide the major demand for management education.

1.2: Strategic Objective of the Town Council of Splot.

The Town council has considered setting their own university in Splot, conjunction with local business and accessing a remote provider through a virtual campus are considered options. But all the above options were rejected due to various reasons of limited experiences, low employment, and low prevalence of technology and limited internet access in the town.

Strategic objective of Town Council of Splot as follows.

1. Develop the town council of Splot to city.

2. Improve Prestige in town.

3. Political Success in the town.

4. Reach out to global market.

Town council initiated this project as part of its vision to develop the town to city. Because, if town become a city, it will open up new business investments, and will attract new customers to establish business in the city. In the same way certain political success effect to improve the infrastructure facility in town council of Splot. Then it will become a positive improvement for their economy and town has ability to reach for global market. Considering the above benefits the option to open a new campus in the town council in Splot has been chosen as the preferred option.

1.3: Identify the Potential Conflicts of the Project

Strategic Objective is the major aspect of this project, since project was benefited for all parties. In the same way number of potential conflicts affected the project at the initial stages. The report investigated the impact from number of potential conflicts in this project.

Potential Conflicts for University of Rummidge

1. Restrictions for University of Rummidge.

It is very important to consider the relevant approval before establish the project. Currently University of Rummidge was having restriction to expand the university from local planning. Approval has to be taken from relevant authority of the country before initiate this project. With refer to this project central government approval has to be taken under initiate stage. Central government consider the benefits of the society before they grant their approval.

2. Limited prestige for university in market.

University of Rummidge was having limited prestige in market compare to other local universities. Recognition is very import factor to attract the customers. This project was targeted students as customers. Students will concern the recognition of the campus prior to start the studies. Basically students will concern about the local rank of the campus and there was a risk whether student will join with University of Rummidge.

3. Incapacity to provide the higher education service.

Resources should be available to carry on the project efficiently. With refer to this project new campus incapable of providing resources due to town council in Splot unemployment was virtually zero and having problems of recurring. Hence it is difficult to fulfil the staff for academic support and administrative support. Staff of the University of Rummidge was reluctant to work with new project due to transport barriers between the new university and Town council. Hence there will be issue to provide the academic support and the administrative for new campus.

Potential conflict for Town Council

1. Sponsorship for new project.

Sponsorship becomes essential factor to carry out the project. The new campus was budgeted € 15 million. Hence Town council has to target their local companies as sponsors. But there can be conflict whether the local company will be accepted to invest with this project as local companies won't get high return for investments by establishing a new campus.

2. Approval from Central government

Town council has to obtain central government approval prior to initiate the project. Since Central government is the relevant authority to grant approval. Project should be benefitted for society and protect the environment. Central government was considered these aspects prior to grant an approval.

3. Influence arises due to shutting down the School.

The town council in Splot planned to shut down the school in Splot and redevelop the new campus. This can be the bad influence for the number of pupils in school. Since pupils were lost the place to continue their studies. This can be major conflict for new project.

2. Identify the Project
