What are the importance of Intelligence Testing?

Why do we have intelligence quotient test better known as IQ test? What or who does it help and when they are used can it help an individual get better education? All over the web you can search and find many different types of intelligence test, you want to know if your brain is good with memory you can take an IQ test for that, you want to see how fast your brain is there are test for that. You can get an IQ test for many things. Mainly IQ test are used to help diagnose someone with learning disabilities, or learn how smart someone is and what education is best for them. There are many test to figure this out, but in this paper I will focus on three of the main ones used today.

What are three methods of intelligence testing?

The three test that I am going to discuss in this paper are the main test that I found to be the best ones. You have the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale created by the French psychologist Alfred Binet, but it was the work of Henry Goddard who translated it from French to English. The use of this test was for basic intellectual functions and to diagnosis mental illness (Cherney, 2016). With the first test out there psychologist all over set out to make new IQ test to use for many different purposes. Most IQ test are intended for young children but can be used for adults when need be. The WISC (Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children) developed by David Wechsler, is an individually administered intelligence test for children between the ages of 6 and 16. The WAIS (Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale) also developed by David Wechsler, is the most widely used IQ test, for both adults and older adolescents, in the world. These three test are commonly used among doctors, psychologist, and schools to help children and adults and any problems they may be facing when it comes to the mind.

How are these methods used?

The uses for each of these test are commonly known for diagnosing some type of learning disability or how high someone’s intelligence is. IQ scores are used for educational placement, assessment of intellectual disability, and evaluating job applicants. They are used all over the world, in Dr. Offices, schools and in the military. Many people think that intelligence testing is unfair and unjust, the way they are given to the way they are scored. Even when students improve their scores on standardized tests, they do not always improve their cognitive abilities, such as memory, attention and speed. The Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale is a cognitive ability and intelligence test that is used to diagnose growing or intellectual absences in young children.
