Was the bush doctrine a justified national security policy? There has been Alot of confusion as what the bush doctrine actually means. For me to give my view on weather or not the doctrine is justified I will first have my breakdown my understanding of what is the doctrine and its meaning. once I have given my definition of the bush doctrine I will need to look at what caused it and finally I will look at how have we have used it.
From what I have gathered, the bush doctrine means that we reserve the option of "preemptive strikes against threats to America's security". There have much Debate as debate as to what is meant by "preemptive" when it comes to defense so, I am going with the understanding that it means to attack first while in the process of being attacked or to attack before an imminent attack will acceure with proper evidence from credible source. There are many incidents that are linked to the ideology behind the doctrine but Including, but not limited to, the bombing of the USS Cole on October 12th 2000, the bombing of an U.S. embassy in Manila on December 30th 2000 and the hi jacking and crashing of planes into the World Trade Center and pentagon on September 11th 2001. All of these attacks were seen as acts of terrorism by radical Islamic groups against the United States of America.
