Terrorism could be thought in many different ways.   Is could be domestic terrorism where it happens on American soil. The best example would have to be the Oklahoma City bombing.  Timothy McVay walked into a building and planted homemade explosives in order to take out a full office building.  Whereas international terrorism has other individuals coming from another country attacking another.  Either way terrorism is an ongoing issue that has been so difficult to detect with not having different securities set up in order to protect a country.

On September 11, 2001 at 8:45 am American Airlines flight 767 carrying passengers was hijacked by hand full of Al Quada militants and flew the plan into the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City.  The plan stuck the building at the 80th floor setting the building on fire along with leaving a massive hole.   With the crash it left the people whom worked in that building stranded unable to leave.  While the building was being evacuated about twenty minutes later a second plane that was hi-jacked appeared in the sky and proceeded to strike the second tower hitting the 60th floor, leaving all the other workers of that building above the floor stranded.  Not long after the second plane collided with the second tower they both proceeded to collapse on the city below.

As millions of the citizens of New York City were trying to deal with this devastation, many weren’t aware of the other attacks planned that same day.   While everyone was watching the attack unfold in New York City a third plane, Airline Flight, was also hi-jacked carrying Islamic terrorist.  This plane was circling over downtown Washington, D.C, and slamming into the west side of the Pentagon military headquarters exactly one hour after the first flight hit the world trade center.  With all the jet fuel it did lead to the collapse of that side of the building killing all the members on the plane, along with people working in that section of the building.   After the collapse of the World Trade Center and the attack on the Pentagon, There was a fourth plane also hijacked by Islamic terrorist.  This plane was destined to crash into nuclear power plants along the eastern seaboard. At this time nothing went according to plan. After investigation they plane was actually taken back by the plane’s crew and passengers on board.  Before they could handle the plane crashed in field of rural western Pennsylvania about twenty minutes after the collapse of buildings in New York City (Staff, H).

After the attacks on 9/11 it open the door of different opportunities in order for us to look where we as the United States went wrong, to not protect our citizens.  On October 7th, 2001 Operation Enduring Freedom was led by the United States military to eliminate the Taliban from Afghanistan.  On the home front while fighting the Taliban we were searching for answers for answers to how this happened on American soil.

With the attacks on 9/11 American citizens wanted and needed to take additional security measures to protect their family and friend’s.   The first measure many choose is physical protection.   You would naturally think physical protection as hand to hand combat, this is not the case.  This is where you want to protect either your home or business by either installing a fence, wall or any other protective barriers.   Having these barriers will help insure that no intruders enter your business or even you home.   One thing that has come in handy is the use of closed- circuit television cameras.  Take the Boston Marathon bombing for example.  Using the footage from other buildings helped see where and when the explosive were placed.  Having the closed circuit television cameras we can use these as learning tools to help make sure this doesn’t happen again.
