Who was the sender? Manager

Who was the receiver? Co-worker

What was the misunderstanding that occurred? My co- worker told me my manager wants me to work in CIU unit instead of CIS. Because I was not paying attention I thought I was asked to go to CIS because of that CIU was short with one nurse. Most of the time we the nurses gets four to six patients it depends the number of patients in the units. So that day, they had eight patients because the unit was short with one nurse. After ten hours my manager called to see if I was transferred to CIU; I told her, I was told to go to CIS. So my manager got confess because my co-worker has told her; she has delivered the message. The next day I asked my co-worker about the message and she said she told me the right message but I was disagreeing with her and this became a misunderstanding between us.

How could the misunderstanding been avoided? The misunderstanding could have been avoided by confirming the message with my manager or the charge nurse of that unit (CIS).

1. What did you learn about the communication process about this activity? In this activity the message was sent but because of misunderstanding I did not do what I was asked to do. The communication process elements about this activity are that the message was clear and thought about something else; also the message was decoded because receivers (co- worker) assign meaning to the symbols in order to understand the message but because of misunderstanding I encoded the message.

2. What seemed to be the main causes of the misunderstandings? The main cause of the misunderstanding is because the massage was unclear to me and also I did not confirm the message.
