One in 3 main forms of book café in the world is developed from coffee bars putting in public, academic and school libraries. Thus, review the comments of librarians about it is very necessary.
In fact, recent years, librarians tend to consider coffee shop in library model as an effective way that can help library system all over the world survive from the strong competition with cinema, flashy architecture, internet or game shop and other kind of entertainment. Research on the real situation in some US libraries which applied this new approach, Jeffries (2010) recorded significantly successes in drawing more attention from public and increasing the number of people coming to libraries annually. Besides, in another study, Welch (2006) collected tens of opinions from managers of many public, academic and school libraries. Most of them indicated that opening coffee shop in library is a good thing. Even though they may not get any of the profit, it has brought students into the library that normally would not have come in. Moreover, letting student's eat and drink in the library has caused less problems than they thought.
In summary, book café becomes one of the very first choices the managers use to refresh their libraries with the main purpose is providing a more convenience and freedom for people come in. Personally, as a student rarely comes to library because many strict regulations are applied there, the researcher totally supports this idea.
Economists
At position of economists, Milletto (2009), president of Bellissimo Coffee InfoGroup and founder of the American Barista and Coffee School viewed book café in a very different way with librarians. Firstly, he assessed that the cost to enter the coffee-serving industry is very cheap compared with other businesses while the earning per dollar spent is huge, said in his word, "coffee is a very sexy product". However, he also pointed that placing coffee and book together can make the service "sexier". Serving book is the unique initiative that will differentiate book café from other type of coffee houses and create a separate market for it, called place for reading book.
