The nature of teaching is a vast landscape that various scholars devoted many years to consider what is involved in being an effective teacher. Becoming a teacher could be easy for anyone; however, becoming an effective teacher is more complicated than many people could ever think. The idea of an effective teacher or term effectiveness may have different interpretations. √ Some academics define 'effectiveness' in terms of students' achievements (Stronge, 2007) while others consider the high performance rating from supervisors. However, in point of view of students, an effective teacher is someone who is kind, generous, and helps students with their work. According to Ayres, Sawyer and Dinham, 2004:144 (cited in Killen, 2005) the effective teaching is a matter of "expertise rather than experience". Experience provides the basis for reflecting on and refining teaching strategies, suggested Killen; however, teachers' knowledge, management skills, enthusiasm, confidence, and having a sense of humour with many other elements need to work collaboratively to enhance students' learning through effective teaching. Stronge (2007) pointsed out that teachers who are both experienced and expertise know the content and the students formally and informally, use effective planning strategies, and skill in managing the classrooms effectively. These teachers are efficient, stated Stronge, as they can do more in less time than novice teachers can.(Stronge, 2007) In other words, teachers' success in being effective is simply affected by teachers' professional and personal skills. The early literature explanations successfully describe the main characteristics of effective teachers. Some of these findings underscore the importance of holding high expectations for students, well-organized lesson planning and classroom instructions, well-managed classrooms and students' behaviour, constructivist approaches, and students' motivation. Therefore, this essay aims to ? some of the key qualities that have been debated in terms of professional and personal aspects of a teacher.
