Ethics Awareness Inventory Paper

Ethical awareness is the ability to understand why an individual believes in what he or she does, and how he or she responds to a particular situation will determine how other individuals are affected because of the individual's response. The individual will articulate his or her beliefs, values, and morals into the culture or the environment that he or she is connected to in hopes to bring about a greater good within that particular culture or environment. Once the individual has spoken or carried out his or her views, beliefs, and morals within the community or environment the application process begins, the outcome will be based upon the actions of the individuals who subjected the community or environment to these ethical views.

Ethics is a person's values, morals, and his or her beliefs, ethics help to make up the character and structure of an individual. A person's ethics that will guide him or her into obeying the rules, and regulations that have been defined by his or her culture, community, and environment, this allows him or her to be compliant. According to Resnik ethics is the "norms for conduct that distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable behavior" (2010). This is important to an individual's personal and professional development because his or her ethics is what helps to keep the individual grounded in his or her daily way of life.

Most people learn ethics from his or her family, at church, in school, and in different social settings. The individual will develop the ability to know right from wrong, to choose good from bad in childhood, and it continues to develop as the individual matures to adulthood. When he or she starts to make new friends, build lasting relationships both personal and professional some of the beliefs, values, and morals will adjust, and some will change based upon the individuals level of commitment to these relationships.

Every society, culture, and community has a certain set of rules and laws that each individual must live by to survive. Concerning the ethical standards set forth by the governing body an individual must see that these ethics are a part of the larger picture, as it is these ethics that make growth and development possible. An example is an individual living in an Eastern Indian culture is raised with ethics which are predetermined before he or she is born, and these ethics are instilled within the individual as he or she grows, when the individual is full grown the ethics of that society say's that a wife or husband has already been arranged and the individual abides by these set of beliefs.
