Amazon started as a local business with the idea of selling books online, this idea produce much enthusiasm but the results were others. The stakeholders had tom make a more specific and stable plan to decide what the training needs of the employees are in order to sustain the rapid growth rate from the e-business. Through the HR department Amazon had to implement a goal of developing training course that would be used to guarantee the employees received the training to be efficient trough the e-business. They need it to understand that customer's service was going to be the key for success. To ensure this training to be successful this was done through the use of survey and evaluation of all the response that were given. The needs evaluation was collected and analyzed and become a summary of the training needs. This process helps ensure the training programs are organized well and the training objectives are useful as well as ensuring the training will meet the objective (Noe, 2008)
When developing training evaluation process it is necessary to determine how the effectiveness of the training can be measured as well as what criteria needs to be measured. Noe states that D.L. Kirkpatrickhad developed four levels of categorization used to evaluate training. The level one and level two categories are related to the learning of the employees and the employees' reactions, which needs to be collected and determined before the training program is developed. Level three and level four categories are in relation to the results and behavior that should be used to measure the effectiveness of the training programs and how the content of the programs issued in carrying out job duties. There has been some dispute that this evaluation method should be avoided unless there is a sign of positive and beneficial changes on all levels.
The individual department and the training for it are considered when training evaluation methods are developed. There is no single way to evaluate all of the training programs for all departments because each department has its own specific needs. Included in the evaluation of the training should be consideration of what kind of training has been done. Hands on training required evaluation of the cognition of employees and the skills that the employees are supposed to acquire from the training program that has been completed. It needs to be determined how well the employee has responded to the training and how this will affect the quality of service the employee gives to the customers. There are also other factors that need to be considered during the development of a training evaluation program. These factors include the overall mission of the organization and determining which employees will be required to complete the training program.
