Gun control
This project is about the issue, if there should be gun control laws or not. It is an important topic to discuss because millions of people are being affected by this issue every day. The topic of gun control will be discussed by having sides that agree with gun control and those that don't. This will demonstrate that the issue of gun control is not an easy one to tackle so one must know both sides before making a judgment.
Will start off by saying why people agree with having gun control regulations because there have been numerous amounts of shooting taking place. For example the Colorado theatre shooting that killed twelve people because of a gunman (Horwitz). If guns were not so accessible to Americans there would not be a high rate of shootings in the state. This is one of the reasons as to why in the States there is a high rate of gun crime. People feel safer when carrying guns for protection and are allowed carry them as long as they are concealed. An example of this occurring is when a man was carrying a weapon and showing it (Hudson). It accidently fired and hit another person (Hudson). This could have been prevented if there were laws in not allowing citizens to carry handguns. Another example is when two children were in a house and parents left a gun lying around and one of them shot themselves in the chest by accident (Roberts).
In Canada gun control laws are strict and only police officers are allowed to carry guns, whereas in the states anyone is allowed to carry a gun. It is getting out of control and having strict rules and regulations will help decrease the shooting that take place (Zoltner). For example in Britain everyone is banned from guns even the police officers and their gun crime compare to the States is much lower (Beleaga).
Those opposed to gun control are those who feel that their rights and freedom are being taken away from them. For instance they think that the government is trying to take their guns away and power (Dixon). Causing them to be worried because they assume that all guns will be banned from them and they do not want this at all (Dixon). This is not fair to people who have respect for the law because everyone must suffer from other citizen's mistakes.
Another reason is that "guns don't kill people; people kill people. They are saying that you can use other weapons to kill people for example a knife (Dixon). Even if guns are prohibited people will find a way to kill each other by using other methods to do so (Dixon). Guns should not be regulated because people will find other ways and weapons to substitute them (examiner). For example in England all citizens are banned from carrying handguns including the police officers. But the people have found other weapons to substitute such as knives (Beleaga).
Others are just afraid of change because they feel that their hobby of hunting
