How Does Regulation Affect the Overall Quality of Long-Term Care?

How does regulation impact/affect the overall quality of long-term care? Anything that is affiliated with health care in gereral has regualtions, and regulation have a siginificate impact on the quality of long term care, if there wern't any ramifications for actions in health care the quailty of care would be horrible. State regulations change and improve on a regular basis and these reguations are in place to protect health care providers and patients. If you have worked in a long term care facility you are most likly fimilar with state survey, which mean for most health care provide scramble time. While working in a nursing home we would have state surveyior come in once a year and that was the time that everyone would come out of their offices and help floor staff, with anything and everything, sad but true. I think that this was the time that most patient got the most efficient care people eveyone was answering call light while attendents were assisting with residents which gave them more time to help residents. I have gone back to school for administration just so that I can be the administrator that help, I want to have an open door policy and know what is going on in the facility first hand. I will be the administrator that helps on the floor when needed and answers that call light thats been going off. I think that all administrators should have to take a CNA class and work as a CNA before they can become administrator just so that they know how important health care staff is to the quality of care patients recieve. Give specific examples of cause and effect of regulation changes in the past 30 years. Regulations imporve and change over the years to give better quality of life.
