What values would you like to give to your children?
A value is a belief, a mission, or a philosophy that is meaningful. Whether we consciously aware of them or not, every individual has a core set of personal values. Values can range from the commonplace, such as the belief in hard work and punctuality, to the more psychological, such as self-reliance, concern for others, and harmony of purpose.
Whether we realize it or not, each family has many general values which were passed from generation to generation. Of course, my family is not an exeption.
Needless to say that there are values which my grandparents had but these values were changed or other qualities start to prevail.
It goes without saying that my grandparents tries to cultivate intelligence, art (piano), sport and the healthy way of life, love to the nature and animals, friendship (all for one and one for all), and, of course, patriotism have been strongly developed.
It is impossible to say that my parents are not intelligent or they don`t worry about our country`s future, just other values became more important in our lives. But here, their values are devided in moral and material. My mum tried to cultivate moral qualities such as honesty, accuracy, concern for others, discipline, while my father tried to make a beautiful life and to avoid the poverty.
Frankly speaking, I respect the traditions of my family, and I want to add, that I also appreciate independence, individualism, solving problems, stability, teamwork and personal growth. And it is important to note that my parents and grandparents also had these values but it seems they didn`t rate them so highly like our generation.
But most of all I am proud of the common values which our family has. Take for instance, kindness, friendship, family feeling (to provide the best future, to bring up children), honesty, family traditions (to spend holidays together, to know the price of the family), to respect for old persons.
I am sure that my children will take some values from the history of our family and will add their own values too. And I am not against of it, I don`t afraid of it too. But I strongly believe that I will try to cultivate them as more as possible best values to bring them up as the intelligent people. And I will be proud if they will appreciate the same values as my grandparents and my parents have, I hope that our society won`t break the moral qualities of my children.
