The most important thing to grasp in the staffing industry is co-employment issues. In this business you are dealing with two employers, and we need to understand which employer is legally responsible for certain aspects of laws and regulations, as well as to understand that liabilities could possibly be split between ourselves and our clients. Probably the least important thing for me personally would be the classification of exempt and non-exempt employees. For our service about 99% of our employees are classified non-exempt.

B. Being in the staffing industry, the types of HR regulations that come up on a regular basis are regulating meal and break periods, as well as handling employment terminations.

C. As mentioned above, the law that we deal regularly with is the regulations of meal and break periods. We are required to make sure that all of our temporary personnel are given the required times allotted to them. We don't always find out there is an issue until a week has passed when we audit timecards to process payroll. This happens a lot because we are not personally there to tell the employees to take there required breaks, and we have to rely on our client to make sure they are following labor laws.

D. When dealing with employee relations matter, it is most important to act professionally and within the law, while at the same time showing compassion to our employees.

E. The most rewarding thing in working in the staffing industry to finding suitable employment for applicants.

F. The best advice I would have is keep up to date on ever-changing employment laws. Also, join human resource associations, and network with your peers.
