Issues of Diversity and Their Impact on Leadership Effectiveness
This article describes research in building foundations in healthcare leadership and
organizations with the need for healthcare managers to develop strategies that address culturally
appropriate care. It also provides contextual support for leadership diversity as a strategy for
reducing racial and ethnic health and healthcare disparities. Healthcare managers and leaders
have seen growing diversities and it has had an impact on anyone who works in the healthcare
setting including management. Improving cultural understandings should be a priority for
healthcare management and organizations.
Majority of minorities may experience disparity because of racial color, beliefs, finances,
education, community features etc. All this have impacts on leadership diversity (such as poverty
and violence) and personal behaviors. It takes a strong leader and someone who is willing and
having experience to deal with culture diversity in poverty. I have experienced diversity issues
with poverty when I was younger through my high school days as a child. All of the students at
my schools were black but I came from a mixed school here in Alabama. They had poor
attitudes, lack of trust, disrespect, and no role models in their lives. All it really took was a one
good person to change ones attitude and some time the rest would follow. I was the only student
who really had interest in my class all others had no attention span at all.
To correct the majority of these problems our teachers mentored students and gave them
better advice with that extra push that was missing from most students' life which was someone
