To be a leader, you must be confident, well spoken, inclusive, and organized. To be elected out of a group of people, you must have qualities that set you apart from others. Throughout my life I have interacted with many different leaders, whether it was my peers, parents, or through church. One leader who specifically stands out from the rest of the crowd would have to be Abby Reed.

Whenever you hear Abby Reed's name in a conversation, it is never a negative one. Abby Reed is one of the most genuine and kindest people I have met throughout my time here in South Lakes High School. Field hockey is where I first met Abby. Abby was captain of the JV team one year and captain of lax her sophomore, junior, and senior year. As one of the field hockey captains, Abby always made sure that we were ready to go; mentally and physically. To be chosen out of the rest of the girls on the team to be a leader, says something about Abby. Not just winning because she is naturally well liked, but because she was encouraging, positive, and always looked out for everyone.

I really got to know Abby my sophomore year. I was going through some tough times and Abby reached out to me and reassured me that she was there for me. Abby told me "fake it till ya make it". When people come to you specifically to help them with their problems, it means they trust you and value your opinion. For me, Abby was that person. She genuinely cared about what I was telling her and aside from her busy schedule, she found time to at least, listen to what I had to say. She was not only this way with me, but everyone. Abby was with this way with everyone. She was just that kind of girl, and because of that, she was naturally popular and well liked.

She naturally had good speaking skills and presented herself in a way that was confident and well spoken. Whenever Abby was speaking to a group, you couldn't not pay attention to her. She had this way about capturing the audiences' attention, in a way that made you want to listen. Maybe it was her tone, the range in her tone and voice, but whatever it was, it worked and people listened. She was able to have this almost like, connection with the audience, as well as her peers, that others just didn't acquire.

As a leader you're looked up to or looked to. Therefore, it is feasible to associate a leader with someone who is a role model to his or her peers; and Abby was just that. When you're young, you always look up to the older kids and want to be just like them. Abby is the perfect example of what we, should strive to be like. Abby was encouraging, outgoing, smart, confident, popular, and most of all, she was genuine. She didn't just stick with her group of friends but she talked to everyone. Anyone can call himself or herself a leader, but I strongly believe that Abby Reed is one of the most recognizable leaders I've interacted with during my life for her ability
