Article Review No. 1

Summary - The beginning of the day is a good time to network with your peers, over breakfast is an optimal choice because it is short and inexpensive. The whole department can partake in this morning meeting at minimal cost to the participants. Meeting with your peers over a meal is an effective business strategy if the time is used wisely. Unfortunately the Author of the article was unable to network as the attendants at the table were to busy discussing unnecessary happenings in their personal life.

The idea of a "networking" breakfast is to develop the participants' relationships with one another to obtain more business; it is a time where deals can be made. Some people do not understand the concept of this and think the only networking necessary is when they were "on stage" delivering their introduction. The truth of the matter is that in the business world there is no on and off switch.

The group that was depicted in the article missed out on an opportunity to build a positive image within their community and possibly did the opposite damaging their reputation by being perceived as a complainer. The article ends with one sentence, a powerful one "When it comes to networking, you are always on-stage."

Writer's Opinion - After reviewing this article I found that networking and possible business expansion can take place somewhere as simple as breakfast. You need to be cautious of the image you are portraying at all times. In the business world you are being judged constantly and need to be made aware of this. Your business relationships can be made or diminished by a simple conversation about personal aspects of your daily life.
