VALUES
The center of Honda's value is the Company Principle, which was drafted in 1956. There are two fundamental beliefs underlying the Company principle:
1.Respect for the Individual
2. The Three Joys.
Respect for the individual- Honda gives a lot of importance to individuals. It is a firm believer of the fact that the contributions of each associate in the company is the key to whatever success it has achieved and gives full credit to its employees.
Honda's philosophy of Respect for the Individual includes the following major points:
Initiative- Associates at Honda should not be bound by preconceived ideas rather they
should think creatively and act on their own initiative and judgment, while understanding that they must take responsibility for the results of the actions they take.
Equality- Equality means to recognize and respect individual differences and to treat each other fairly. Honda is committed to this principle and to creating equal opportunities for everyone. An individual' s sex, age, race, religion, nationality, educational background, social or economic status etc. have no bearing on the individual's opportunities.
Trust- Mutual trust is very important for developing good relationships among the associates. Trust is created by recognizing each other as individuals, helping out where others are deficient, accepting help from others, knowledge sharing, and making a sincere effort to fulfill the responsibilities.
Raison D'etre - Honda believes that each person working in, or coming in touch with the company, directly or indirectly i.e. through its products, should share a sense of joy through that experience. This feeling is expressed in what they call as 'The Three Joys' and this is the Raison D'etre of Honda.
