Today's mobile telephone market has become very competitive market. According 2010 Central bank report (Statistical Appendix table 34) there is 17,246,567 mobile phone subscribers. When we comparing to year 2000 its more than 3900% growth. Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) is the national regulatory agency for telecommunications in Sri Lanka. According to their 2010 December statistical report mobile telephone density per 100 persons was 82. In 2008 December it was only 54.6 mobile phones per 100 people.

Persent there is five mobile companies doing their operations in Sri lanka. They are

1.Dailog Axiata PLC - Biggest market share belongs to this Malaysian base company

According to their web site it's 6.3 M & this company listed at

Colombo stock exchange.

2.Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd - This company wholly owned subsidiary of Sri Lanka telecom.3.3M

second biggest subscriber's belongs to them.

3.Etisalat Sri Lanka (Pvt) Ltd - Sri Lanka's first Cellular networks, then called Celltel

inaugurated its operations in 1989.Now its wholly owned by

UAE base company. Market share is 2.3 M

4.Bharti Airtel Lanka (Pvt) Ltd -

5.Hutchison Telecommunications Lanka (Pvt) Ltd
