"I know my heart will never be the same, but I'm telling myself I'll be okay. Even on my weakest days, I get a little bit stronger." Imagine hearing these words sung to you live as you are standing front row at one of Sara Evans concerts. I don't have to imagine this happening because I was there. I attended one of her country music concerts at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa. I enjoyed her concert a lot for many reasons.
There were a lot of elements to her concert I found very pleasing. The element I found the most pleasing during this concert was the fact that she played current tunes along with old hits. She also mixed it up by throwing in a little blue grass. She alternated music during the performance by playing new songs and old songs as well as upbeat and slow songs. This is pleasing to me because concerts can get tiring if artists continually play the same beat of songs and only new hits or old hits. I was entertained the whole time with her interactive personality. Several times during the concert she would reach into the crowd and autograph fan's CDs. One of the things I found to be very fun was that she had a bright blue microphone stand. It stood out on the stage making her the center of attention. There were some elements to Sara's performance that I did not find pleasing as well.
During Sara Evans' performance she played a few non-traditional songs. This is one of the things I did not find pleasing. Not knowing the songs an artist sings during a concert makes a person feel like that like time was wasted. Another song could have been sang instead, one that a person would know. The horrible thing is that actually happened. Sara did not play one of her major hits "You'll Always be My Baby." It was also unpleasing, between songs, when she would be telling a story and she would start rambling. Luckily for her she was the star of this concert so it didn't matter too much.
Sara Evans was the best performer of the night because she had the bright blue microphone stand. The stand points out that everyone came to the concert to see her and that she is the star. Sara's opening band was actually very good, which doesn't always happen at concerts. All eyes were on Sara . She was the star of attraction. She also moved around on stage making sure everyone got a little taste of the performance. She showed that she was really having a good time. She danced across stage and really got into her songs. Her overall performance was grand.
My overall reaction to this event was that it was great. I love her music and she sounded great live in concert. She had good pitch and tone throughout the whole night. She kept her energy level high, not wearing out near the end. The best thing is that she sounded exactly like she does on her albums, truly amazing.
