Organisational Behaviour

1.0 Introduction

        Everyone has set goals that seek to improve and better the success of their future. However, goals and ambitions cannot satisfy individual interests, and one has to develop practical steps in improving their status. Relevant skills involve understanding the different aspects associated with success and demand various kind of talent, skills, and knowledge (Abbas & Asghar 2010 p.1). This paper will analyse and give an understanding of the relationships between the different organisational structures and culture while outlining the different approaches to management and leadership. Understanding the organisational cultures and structures is crucial in ensuring that an individual has the practical skills necessary for achieving success. The paper will also present the necessary approaches to leadership and management necessary for running an efficient programme. The paper will also outline the various ways motivational theories can get used in organisations and the mechanisms for the development of effective teamwork in these organisations. The various outcomes will be discussed in reference to M & S and NISA local organisations.    

1.1 M & S

        M & S was established I the year 1884 that is currently headquartered in London. The business has major specialisations selling products that range from luxury food products, clothing, and home products. The founders with whom the name originated are Michael Marks and Thomas Spencer. The company has experienced numerous organisational and financial since then making it one of the largest retailers in Britain owing to its large connections with various manufacturers and other enterprises. The organisation has a reputation for its quality products and their favourable pricing policies.

1.2 NISA Local

        NISA local is a leading member-owned organisation based in the United Kingdom that provides numerous benefits to independent sellers in the food and drinks market. The organisational structure is made up of an industrial board that form the highest level of authority within the organisation. The enterprise being a member-owned business allows free and fair elections within their top members when deciding the members with control over the business’s projects. The organisation is well known for conducting numerous research regarding innovations to provide the relevant products to the people.  

2.0 Organisational structure and culture

        Organisational structures vary from one business entity to the other. Each business entity defines their organisational structure based on various aspects that are different from one entity to the other. The different approaches differ based on the size of the organisation, the industry of operation, and the organisational size based on the number of employees (University of Liverpool p. 2).

2.1 What is organisational structure and culture?

        Organisational structures define the approach organisations take when arranging the peoples and jobs so that they can achieve maximum outcomes when performing their goals and objectives (Elsaid, Okasha & Abdelghaly 2013 p. 1). Organisations get set up in customised approaches that best work to accomplish their different goals and the more efficient the structure, the more the organisation is bound to succeed. Organisations should match their needs with the various structures they need to achieve so that they can attract higher sales and increase their revenue.
