According to Sternberg "Practical intelligence is related to overall success in living." (Sternberg, 2000, 2002b; Sternberg & Hedlund, 2002; Wagner, 2002; Muammar, 2007; Lievens & Chan, 2010). This could be someone who knows what they want to do in life and has their career ideas in order. This person probably has money saved, attending college to further their careers, and overall wealthy. This person probably has their life mapped out and has their mind set to do whatever it is that they need to do to be successful. They already have solutions for any problems that may occur in the process as well. Emotional intelligence is the set of

skills that underlie the accurate assessment, evaluation, expression, and regulation of emotions (Mayer, Salovey, & Caruso, 2004; Humphrey, Curran, & Morris, 2007; Mayer, Salovey, & Caruso, 2008). Someone with emotional intelligence can detect when someone is upset or is happy. This person shows empathy for others and self-awareness. Someone with emotional intelligence usually gets along with others and can help when others are feeling down.

Having practical and emotional intelligence in the workplace can be very important. One would want to have practical intelligence to be successful in whatever they are doing. I believe that having practical intelligence could also help the company improve. If you are intelligent in having success in your living then you could be intelligent in having success in helping the company. One would also have to be emotional intelligent when working. Knowing how to help others with how they are feeling from day-to-day could help the business run smoother. Showing empathy on not just your co-workers but for the customers also could improve the business.

Meredith Grey on Grey's Anatomy shows practical and emotional intelligence. I believe to be a doctor, a person would have to be intelligent in knowing how to show empathy on others feelings, body language and concerns. I also think that working as a doctor the person knows that they wanted to do this in life and has a plan on their future. I see doctors as being very successful in almost everything they do. Another television character that shows practical and emotional intelligence would be Opera Winfrey. I see her as a very successful woman who knows what she wants in life and has shared her wealth with others. She has even built her dream school in South Africa to help children get a better education. She also gives money to different foundations. I think she can see the pain from others and loves to make others happy. People with practical and emotional intelligence are good role models for people. I look up to these people and it makes me want to move forward in my life and my future career to be successful in my life and maybe help others as well.
