Professional Knowledge and Abilities Paper
The professional organization I have selected is the National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology. This organization manages the standards for the qualifications that all dental lab techs have to reach to receive and maintain their individual and laboratory national certification. They also are the certification issuing body for the national Certification Dental Technician (CDT) which is the only one of its kind in the United States. The board also promotes new and more advanced dental lab technics. The board is also trying to raise the national standard for dental lab by promoting certified dental lab tech's over none certified techs. This will raise the standard of dental care for the whole of the United States if this goal is reached. Not only does this origination wish to raise the standards for the dental lab technics by promoting certified technician's they also work to certify individual laboratory's. The main reason for this is to set a standard and to insure that the products being produces in the US are of sufficient quality for the patient.
The way that the National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology can impact your career success is by showing the dental community that you are committed to safety of the patinas, quality of the products produced by your lab. It also shows that as a lab tech that your business is a safety environment for other individuals to work in. This simple thing that the National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology does is to not only improve the field but to help each individual laboratory and Lab Technician improve and to succeed.
In closing I would like to say that this organization has improved the quality of dental lab techs in the us it continues to do so and though this in an organization that promotes certification in the Dental Laboratory Technology but that this is done on a voluntary basis. This is due to the fact that the United States does not have a federal set of standards that are used to regulate dental laboratories.
