I enrolled at Roxbury community college in January, 2011, my intended major will liberal arts. I should be expected to graduate within two and half years because of my decision to take four classes each semester instead of 5-6, I'm planning to take summer and winter courses as well. To complete the 64 credits within the appropriate time frame at RCC. In 5 to 10 years I hope to be become a licensed social worker. I chose this career because im interested in helping people, such a children, and adults in need. Also I want to be successful and this career is something that I am interested in with a great a salary.
My job title for this job could vary depending on what degree level I want to obtain; a clinical social worker, occupational social worker, or either a substance abuse social worker. Having a high Interest in helping people and skills is a needed for this occupation it would consist of me doing research, writing and having a strong fluent in English language and communication skills.
After graduating for Roxbury Community College, I would attend either the University of Maine, Syracuse University or Boston College, just to name a few. With the completion of my Bachelors degree of Social work I would soon get my license, passing a 170-question exam. With the BSW license I will be able work in an entry -level position such as a case consultant, child advocate, gerontology social worker (advocating and caring for the elderly), criminal justice social worker, a case worker, or a home counselor, which is generally the minimum requirement to practice social work.
I would be able to make around 55, 00-70,000 with a BSW. Before obtaing my Masters degree, I would like to get married and have my first child, with the income I would be able to own a car and a home with also my husband's income as well. I will continue to work in a hospital setting in my local area to support my family until two and a-half- years and earn my master degree. A master of social offers position in clinical, school social work, generally it would take two years to complete, I would consider earning my master, either at Boston University , Simmons College, Boston college or Columbia University, after completion of my masters degree I would also have to have an license.
