Bronx Community College is widely popular throughout New York City and was once the dwelling for NYU. The college enrolls a staggering ten thousand students each year; for a mere junior college in the NYC that's not a big deal but none the less impressive.
The fall semester of 2011 was a very special year to a young man for many different reasons. A young man named Troi Osborne who was on the brink of graduation or to articulate profoundly, "the year he escaped fucking BCC High". He never imagined himself going to a junior college as a teenager. A man educated at a catholic private school and to move on to a simple junior college was a big mistake. A mistake he often thought "why, why, why" echoed in his brain as he sat in class after class. Troi never really picked this college, it was chosen by his friends. He allowed his friends to make a crucial decision in his life. He was already set on taking a math placement exam to begin his life at NYU, however his friends advocated for him to pursue his love of basketball, partying and to not focus on his studies.
Troi entered the college life but in actuality it was just like his high school days! Troi never imagined going to college where he knew so many people before hand. The word community college really meant community to him. All he saw were people he grew up with, played basketball with, partied with or simply hung out with. All they did was lounge around campus "chilling and macking" but unbeknownst to him they were really slowing down his progress in life and school. After about two semesters of pure nonsense and no progress, Troi tried to get back on track but the damage was already done and getting back to where he needed to be was nearly impossible.
Attending this community college was ultimately his decision, so Troi knew that he was the only one responsible for all that went wrong with his education. His friends may have influenced his decision but it was his choice to follow that route and not attend classes instead of focusing on what needed to be done in order to graduate on time and stay on the right track. Being at the college wasn't the experience that Troi wanted growing up. Troi had this idea that he would attend a university and live the college life where he would be attending classes and maybe partying a little. Never in a million years did Troi dream that he would be struggling to complete his education at a community college or high school as he would like to call it.
It didn't make sense to really dwell on the past; it wouldn't solve anything. Hanging with his friends and basketball and partying took its toll and Troi knew what he had lost. While he loved all these things, the price he had to pay was far greater than he was willing to give. Education was and is very important to Troi and he lost sight of that while listening to his friends. Troi was being all things to all people except
