The article, 'Teamwork Quality and the Success of Innovative Projects: A Theoretical Concept and Empirical Evidence' written by Martin Hoegl and Han Georg Gemuenden , sets out to show a study that researches if successful innovative projects derive from successful teamwork, along with facets being evaluated as success measures for teamwork. The Teamwork Quality (TWQ) concept consists of six different aspects that a quality team would consist of in order to execute effective innovations and project development.

The Teamwork Quality concept instills the idea that each individual unit in a team is equally important as the team as a unit. The concept breaks down into six different aspects that affect each person in the group, the group as a unit, along with the unit manager. The six different aspects that are discussed are communication, coordination, balance of member contributions, mutual support, effort, and cohesion. Each of the facets that are discusses and analyzed throughout the article was derived to evaluate how teamwork and innovative projects success are related.

In reference to 'The Medici Effect', along with the TWQ correlate, in the aspect that they focus on what make innovations a success from a teamwork perspective. After reading and understanding the concepts, the relevance for my personal benefit and why I focus on these two pieces in particular is in my field of interest, innovations is what will brand myself, my organization, and my company a success. Creativity, innovation, teamwork, and intersections are all concepts that are dealt with in a retail environment on a day to day basis and the improvement that can be made by understanding these concepts will make a dynamic impact.

Understanding teamwork in its entirety and the inner workings, allows managers to understand that each member of a team provides a characteristics that allows uniqueness from the group, however each individual's uniqueness can be implicated to the success of the group, along with the organization for which they are employed.
