OUTLINE

GENERAL PURPOSE: To persuade my audience of the importance of wearing condoms.

SPECIFIC PURPOSE: To convince everyone that wearing condoms can help prevent you from catching a Sexually Transmitted Disease or even worse AID's/HIV.

CENTRAL IDEA: To take action and make sure everyone can protect not only themselves but protect the lives of others.

INTRODUCTION

In today's society sex plays a major role. Many people look at sex as a way of getting rid of stress. According to, www.std-gov.org about 65 million people living in the United States live with a Sexually Transmitted Disease. Sex is something great when you're with that special person, and you want them to really get a great feel of your love for them. Sex can also bring problems once you start having it unprotected. It can cause many different STD's, pregnancy, or even worse AID's/HIV. Some of these diseases are really life threating, and can cause many different problems. Sexually Transmitted Diseases are diseases that are mainly passed from one person to another during sexually intercourse. There are at least 25 different STD's with a range of different symptoms.

Signpost: These are a few types of STD's chlamydia, gonorrhea, genital herpes, hepatitis B, genital warts, and syphilis.

I. Chlamydia-is one of the most common STD it affects the urethra, rectum and eyes in both sexes, and the cervix of woman. If you leave it untreated the infection can lead to fertility problems in women.

II. Gonorrhea- is an infection that can infect the urethra, cervix, rectum, anus and throat. Symptoms can occur 1-14 days after exposure but it is possible to have no symptoms. Men can have more symptoms then men such as a burning sensation when urinating, white/yellow discharge from the penis, a vaginal discharge.

III. Genital Herpes-is caused by two different types' type 1, and type 2. Type 2 is more common symptoms are itching or tingling sensations in the genital or anal area, small fluid-filled blisters that burst leaving small painful sores, pain when passing urine over the open sores mainly for women.

IV. Hepatitis-refers to viral infections that cause inflammation of the liver. There are different types of viruses A to G, but A, B, and C are the most common. Commonly caused by a virus.

V. Genital Warts-they appear anywhere on the skin in the genital area as small whitish or flesh colored bumps, fleshy, cauliflower-like lumps. There are really no symptoms of general warts.
