Titanic, it's elegant, a legendary story that I love it very much. Do you know the leading characters of the movie? Yes, Jack and Rose. It is not surprised to hear the above utterance. Whenever people talk about Titanic, they will conceive the movie immediately. Everyone was actually touched by her story. However, you may not wholly understand the background history of Titanic.
Now, I'd like to share my knowledge with you about the largest passenger steamship, Titanic. It was an Olympic-class passenger liner built at the year of nearly a century ago. In her maiden voyage on the way to the United States, she struck an iceberg and sank in the year 1912. This disaster had deprived the lives of over one thousand five hundred people.
The news of this terrible shipwreck came as a great shock to all over the world. Having slept for 70 years in the north Atlantic, Titanic was found in 1985.This rediscovery launched a debate among countries over ownership of the wrecks and those salvaged items inside.
Having looked at the rough idea of Titanic, Lets' now consider whether we should put our effort to preserve the wrecks or not.
Perhaps you will also feel surprises why many people are deeply affected by this great misfortune. In the history of mankind, there were many enormous tragedies during the 20 centuries. Ten millions of deaths in the two world wars, three hundred thousand people disappeared during the Tangshan earthquake in China, These decease, these disaster, brought us unforgettable remembrance. Why? Why it still cannot arouse the concern of people, yet, the Titanic can do that.
Now, I would like to explain my views on this proposition:
First, Titanic was the first biggest removable object invented by human beings. She represented a master of modern technology, and was a symbol of the 20th century. At that time, there were many ship-building data information proofing her safety with no probability of sinking. However, reality seems cruel to Titanic, she sank within two hours. The 70 years' time's disappearance stimulated the people's curiosity and imagination to know more about her mystery. Thus, titanic has the value of existence.
Second, Titanic surpassed all her rivals in luxury. Just the height was equivalent to 11 story building. Nowadays, there are still no other vessels being able to compete with it. Therefore, it should be preserved for research again.
Third, the first voyage represented noble and rank at that time. Only the rich and prominent people could board on this big vessel. Try to imagine that if the prominent people were Diana of Britain, Bill gates of Microsoft, did she arouse the curiosity of all people? Only the mystery of the Titanic still exists, it will appeal to everyone.
