Dear Editor, it is obvious that the status of women has been greatly improved.
They are holding importante positions that used to be held mainly by men.
Clearly, we women are making outstanding contribution to the progress of the modern society.
In the past, a woman was only a housewife, she stayed at home cooking, cleaning and raising children. She did not have right to vote.
Now, we are equal to men. We have more power, more freedom and we actually have a voice in what we do or want to do. However, things have not become easier for us.
We have now an important challenge: the right family-work balance. We women want to have families without giving out our promising career, and it is a hard struggle.
Home, family and career,,,,can we really do it all?
The fact is that although women are NOW fully involved in work market, the divisiĆ³n of domestic labour has COMPARATIVELY changed very little, because women in employment invest twice as much time looking after children and doing THE housework.
In my opinion, in order to achieve the balance, it is important we have all the support and understandig from our families and, of course, woman and men should take equal responsability for housework.
Besides, legal measures are ALSO needed to encourage men and women to share their parental responsability.
