ambulatory healthcare

  1. Ambulatory healthcare role in the community is to provide on an outpatient basis. These roles are as followed: diagnosis, observation, consultation, treatment, intervention, and rehabilitation services.
  2. The strengths of ambulatory care is that has more imaging centers than pediatric specialty centers. Another strength is that it has urgent care 24/7 mobile. The weakness of ambulatory care is that some have limited space for all patients and patients may have to wait a long time before they are able to be seen,
  3. If the economy is down, patients often are not able to afford the care. This effect causes them to close down.

hospitals

  1. Hospital’s role in the community has evolved over time from being small and confined to expanding into multiple communities. They have created programs to teach, intern, and fund for local schools.
  2. Hospitals in modern day are able to treat patients with the most advanced technology and medication. However, they tend to over test patience; therefore, care from hospitals costs are on the rise.
  3. According to “Health Care at the Crossroads”, hospitals are the second largest private-sector employer, hospitals have a major economic impact. In smaller communities, a local hospital may be the largest employer and can become an integrated part of the community's framework. As the economy sits on tremulous footings, the hospital and its governing healthcare system have opportunities to emerge as leaders for health and wellness

long-term care

  1. Long-term care provides the community with places for people living with chronic health problems that affect their ability to perform everyday activities. These services also include traditional medical services, social services, and housing.

2&3.        Long-term care’s strength is that it includes nursing homes for the elderly so that they have a safe on the spot care available while being able to enjoy social gatherings with others. Its weakness is that most patients do not add long-term care on their insurance which creates larger costs patients cannot afford. The patients then create larger debt that affects the economy.

mental and behavioral health

  1. Mental and behavioral health has become a more needed care in the community because the united states has an increase on people with mental problems.
  2. Mental and behavioral health great for people who need counseling. However, many places have been shut down.
  3. The mentally ill patience receive about 72 hours of care and then are sent home. It affects the economy because of the rising need and limited amount of facilities.
