As a manager at the American National Red Cross, I have developed certain skills and style to use given a situation arises between staff and the individuals that we support. This skills and style also applies to me as well. Supporting people as a manager, coordinates team work and get the job in a much team like attitude, and great relationship with both staff and resident. There are two types of attitudes that can make a good and supportive manager.

1. Supportive attitudes

2. Directive attitudes

Supportive attitudes defines the task at hand, allocate work and tools, listen and provides support to staff as well as two way communications. As a manger, it is always good to have control of the work flow, numbers of employee in your directives and the quality performance. Be ready to make adjustments, encourage staff and consumers. Give positive praises to your staff and recognize individual's abilities to work as a team. Contributing while your staff is working helps me as a manager to build confidence in my staff and motivates positive influences.

Directive attitudes maintains good discipline, give instructions on how the job should be done clearly stating the duties and responsibilities of the staff, what will best match the level of instructions given developing the staff to become a successful leader or managers as well. As a manager I also check and evaluate job performances and determine the status of my staff.

Supportive and directive attitudes build the team spirit. It is also good to ask questions during organized manager and staff meetings. These questions may include, what can we do? What is the best way to succeed in the organization? How will this benefit the company? Be open to suggestions and comments. As a manager it is also good to adopt positive behaviors and attitudes while working on a task. It is good to position myself as a leader. Rolling up my sleeves and getting the others involve build the team work cohesively. Make observations and create situations on strength and positive attitudes helps me as a manager to evaluate my strength and weaknesses.

To get an insight of my strength and weaknesses, I evaluate my skills and review rooms for improvements. I call this my personal inventory skills and styles. This is where I evaluate and work toward improving my management skills. As a manager it is different to lead a business and bring different strengths and opportunities to the people you lead. I evaluate my strengths and administering the same evaluations I provide for my staff, review my past work or employee evaluations, where did I build my strength? Where did I fail in my management styles? What are the patterns I use to perform or failed and time management skills? There are many ways to have a good and productive staff. I have to be confident to sometimes give them the task and observed the work to evaluate both staff and me as a manager. It is good to develop professional development trainings to support your staff. Some staff will compliment me on the job. As a manager all staff will not be satisfy with your judgments or decisions but it is always good to emphasized on why you made the decision.
